Cold after the storm

STATE COLLEGE — A winter storm that hit the area Sunday could make for icy conditions this morning,  according to an AccuWeather meteorologist.

Folks waking up will find ice in a lot of places, Dave Dombek said Sunday night. But, he said, the storm should be the only volatile weather for the rest of the week,

“We will probably have a little bit of light rain or drizzle, not a big deal,” said Dave Dombek. “The big story for the rest of the week, particularly for Wednesday and Thursday, is going to be the cold.”

There may be precipitation during other days this week, but it is unlikely to freeze, he said.

There is also a minor chance of flurries on Tuesday, but what will be most noticeable the rest of the week will be the cold. Temperatures will range from the 20s to the upper 30s during the days, with nights likely dropping into the teens, Dombek said.

Roads should be safe to drive for the rest of the week, though some Monday morning will likely need to be salted. Side roads may still be slushy or icy during the week, according to Dombek.

“The rest of the week looks pretty quiet, weather-wise,” he said.
