DCDC graduates walk, celebrate with family carnival

COOPER TWP. — The graduates donned maroon and teal mortar boards.

The 4- and 5-year-olds sat before family and friends in a semi-circle in the gym of the Danville Child Development Center along Bloom Road.

The 25 children marched into the gym to the sound of the traditional “Pomp and Circumstance.”

Each received a flower to give to his or her mother, a diploma and a pouch containing school supplies to mark their graduation from preschool.

They will be going onto kindergarten in the fall.

Many of the graduates ran to their moms to hand them their flowers and then raced back to their red and blue chairs.

The Class of 2014 also sang some songs for the audience which was busy snapping photos and capturing every move on video.

Afterward, more photos were taken of the graduates alone and posing with family members.

The center provided food and a farmily carnival followed the event.

Games included a duck pond, a marble race, water painting on the sidewalk and other outside activities.

The graduation and family carnival are an annual event, according to Center Executive Director Diana Dixon.
