— DANVILLE – A woman has been hospitalized after her car crashed into the side of Geisinger Medical Center, caused by her vehicle clipping a parked loading van.
Jean Forney, 85, of Danville, was driving towards Geisinger’s Bush Pavilion at about 10:15 a.m. when her Plymouth Acclaim struck the van, which was waiting to unload. Chief Robert Blee, of the Mahoning Township Police Department, said it was not yet clear why Forney struck the van. Forney was admitted to the hospital’s emergency room before Blee had the chance to speak with her.
Forney’s car jumped the curb after hitting the van, striking an outside wall of the hospital. There were clear dents in the building where Forney’s car impacted, just below a window looking into the Bush Pavilion. Forney was conscious following the crash. The front of her vehicle was damaged and her passenger side window had been shattered.
Nobody in the van was hurt, Blee said, and the van itself only had minor scuff marks.
The area in front of the pavilion was temporarily closed off following the accident. Also responding was Geisinger Security, East End Fire Department and Valley Township Fire Department.
