Award-winning author coming to Danville

DANVILLE – A morning reception, a free presentation by an award-winning Civil War author, President Lincoln, Gen. Robert E. Lee and Clara Barton will be part of Iron Heritage Festival events July 19.

The morning reception will be from 9 to 10 a.m., featuring guest of honor author Jeffrey Shaara, at 100 W. Market St. A limited number of tickets will be sold at $15 per person. They are available at the festival’s company store at 316 Mill St.

Shaara will present a program on “After Gettysburg,” which is this year’s festival theme, at 2 p.m. July 19 in the Danville Middle School auditorium, Route 11.

The program is free.

There is a reserved section with tickets $5 each and available from the company store.

Doors to the auditorium will open at 1:30 p.m. Tickets will also be available at the time.

At noon July 19, Tina and Charles Bartholomew and The Ladies Circle of Danville will welcome people to a luncheon at the Doctor’s Inn at 101 W. Market St.

The honored guest will be Clara Barton.

The cost is $15 per ticket and available at the Iron Heritage store. This will be an indoor and outdoor event.

James Getty, portraying President Lincoln, and Frank Orlando, as Lee, will be present on the porch at 100 W. Market St. beginning at 10:30 a.m. July 19. There is no fee for the event.
