PlayStation Plus members get 20-hour Battlefield 4 PS3 trial Today

— Plus members will also get their hands on Limbo for PlayStation Vita. In addition to the already-announced allotment of free games PlayStation Plus members have gotten this month, an extra freebie is coming today for PlayStation 3 owners in the form of a substantial free trial of Battlefield 4.

Game trials are nothing new to Plus, but whereas they typically allow Plus subscribers to try out a game for only an hour, this one will entitle them to play Battlefield 4 for 20 hours. You'll only get access to content from the base game--which is, it should be noted, a substantial amount--but that unfortunately means you'll still have to pay if you're interested in trying out content from any of the three expansion packs released so far.

Since being released last October, Battlefield 4 has suffered from numerous technical problems. Future development was actually placed on hold at one point as publisher EA and developer DICE attempted to resolve these issues, many of which have been fixed as patches were rolled out. Things are still far from perfect, however, and DICE recently launched a new "Community Test Environment" on PC that it's using to test changes and improvements.
