This former “Air Force brat” was born in Charleston, S.C., where his father was stationed during the Vietnam conflict. His family later moved to Montour County, where he graduated from Danville High School and later took a job on the grounds crew of the Frosty Valley Country Club while attending college.
His favorite music album of all time is AC/DC’s “Back in Black.” “That’s a stellar album. It never goes out of style,” he said. Despite this, he’s never tried to pick up an instrument himself. “If I wanted to learn how, I would have. I never really had that interest,” he said.
An avid outdoorsman, his favorite spot in the world is “in the woods, period, anywhere.” When he’s not working as a public servant, he enjoys fishing and hunting, and dreams of one day harvesting a bull elk. His other dream is to be able to retire and then travel cross-country with his wife.
He will always make time if he sees the TV playing one of his two favorite movies, John Wayne’s “The Green Berets” and “Top Gun.”
He also likes coaching baseball, and still has his Danville Little League playoffs jersey from when he was 12. One sport he was never good at, though, was basketball.
“There’s not much people don’t know about me. I’m a public figure,” he said. One passion of his that many may not be aware of, though, is cooking. “I like to experiment,” he said. “I do everything, if I see a recipe that’s interesting, I do it and try it. I’m always up to try new things.”
If he’s making a dish for him and some of the guys, he prefers to add in more spice. If it’s for his wife, then he usually tones it down a bit.
