WILLIAMSPORT — Susquehanna Regional Emergency Medical Services Emergency Medical Technician Tina Wright recently received the EMT of the Year Award for the State of Pennsylvania.
She was awarded the state EMT of the Year at the Pennsylvanian Fire and Emergency Services Institute Annual Conference and Awards Ceremony in Camp Hill.
Wright began her career with the Muncy Valley Hospital as an EMT in April of 1992. As an EMT at Muncy Valley Hospital, she performed various tasks in the Paramedic Department including teaching CPR, responding to calls and billing for the Paramedic services.
With the alliance of the Muncy Valley Hospital, Divine Providence Hospital and Williamsport Regional Medical Center, she became a member of the Williamsport Area Ambulance Service Cooperative (WAASC) team.
She began as a WAASC transport team member performing billing, dispatch and completing patient transports. In 1995, Tina became one of the original career EMTs at Old Lycoming’s Ambulance 14, where she served until June of 2007 when SREMS was formed. Tina is now one of SREMS’s senior EMTs and continues to serve as a Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) ambulance team member.
Like most career emergency medical personnel, Wright started out as a volunteer at the Hughesville Volunteer Fire Company and has since become a member of the Old Lycoming Township Volunteer Fire Company. As a volunteer she has served on numerous committees.
Besides being a skilled EMT and mastering the responsibility of assisting her Paramedic partner on the MICU, she has mentored numerous Emergency Medical Service providers.
