KREAMER -- A 20-year-old Trevorton woman was seriously injured Friday in a head-on collision on Route 522 in Middlecreek Township, Snyder County.
Kimberly F. Buganza was flown by helicopter to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, after the 4:10 p.m. crash. She was being treated in the emergency room at 10 p.m., a nursing supervisor said.
The driver of the other vehicle, Cletus M. Clotfelter, 75, of Middleburg, was uninjured.
Buganza was driving a Chrysler Cirrus east on Route 522 when it crossed the center lane and struck a Dodge Ram 2500 van Clotfelter was driving for the Selinsgrove Area School District.
"She hit me and she hit the guardrail and ended up all the way down there," Clotfelter said.
After colliding with Clotfelter's van, Buganza's sedan continued on Route 522 east, hit a guardrail on the south side of the highway, slid across the road, and stopped against the north guard rail, about 60 yards from the collision site.
Clotfelter, who said he had dropped off his last passenger 10 minutes before the collision, was wearing a lap and shoulder belt.
"Didn't even shake me up," Clotfelter said after the crash. "I had my seat belt on good and tight. I just got a scratch on my neck from my seat belt."
Buganza, who was also wearing a lap and shoulder belt, had to be freed from her vehicle by emergency personnel.
Traffic on Route 522 was delayed for about an hour due to the crash.
The Kreamer and Middleburg fire companies and Medic 55 were among those assisting state police at Selinsgrove at the scene.
