LEWISBURG — State police have identified the three people injured in an accident Monday afternoon that shut down traffic on Route 15 in Kelly Township for a time.
Matthew T. Marshall, 45, of Milton, was the driver of a 2004 Ford Taurus that was struck from behind by a tractor-trailer rig at the intersection of Route 15 and Zeigler Road at about 5:10 p.m. Monday. Riding in the car with him was Mary K. Marshall, 50, also of Milton. Both were taken by helicopter to Geisinger Medical Center.
Mary Marshall is listed in serious condition Tuesday morning, while Matthew Marshall is in fair condition.
Ronald D. Morrisey, 61, of Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, was also injured. His 2004 Freightliner tractor-trailer rig struck the Marshall vehicle and then careened through a guard rail, across a driveway and toppled onto its side along the railroad tracks. Morrisey was taken by ambulance to Geisinger, where he is in fair condition Tuesday.
According to police, Morrisey did not realize the Marshall vehicle was stopped at the traffic signal until it was too late to swerve around it. Morrisey will be charged with careless driving.
Assisting state police at the scene were the William Cameron Engine Company, White Deer Township and Milton ambulance, Evangelical emergency personnel, Milton and Lewisburg fire police and Buck’s Towing.
