GSV Chamber of Commerce president stepping down

The Board of Directors of the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce has accepted the resignation of President and CEO, Dave Hall, effective Dec. 31.

Hall joined the chamber in April 2007, and also served as the executive director of the Susquehanna Industrial Development Corporation, Sunbury New Enterprises Expansion Drive, and Leadership Susquehanna Valley. Previously he headed chambers in Peabody, Mass. and Chenango County, N.Y.

“Nationally, chamber executives last an average of only five years in the profession, and I’ve been able to enjoy eight very rewarding ones," Hall wrote in a statement issued Friday afternoon.

"I've earned a national chamber certification few others in the industry have attained, and I’ve always been thankful for those opportunities to be part of a community and regional leadership. I certainly retain that passion for community; however, I have reached a point in my professional life where it is important to pursue other opportunities and options. I thank the board members for their service to the organization and their commitment to the region. The dedication of the local chamber members is not often matched within the industry, and I will miss working with them.”

Jay Lemons, chairman of the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors said that Hall has brought "significant energy" to his leadership.

"He worked hard to become acquainted with our area and embraced the people and culture of the Valley," Lemons said. " Mr. Hall brought considerable expertise to important transportation issues impacting our area such as the Penn Valley Airport, the Central Susquehanna Valley Thruway, and the I-80 tolling issue. During his tenure, the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber added 164 businesses, organizations and individuals to its membership and SIDCO opened the Pawling Station Business Park.”

Denise Prince, the CEO of Geisinger Ventures and Region V Vice President of the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce, will head the search committee which will seek to identify Mr. Hall’s successor.
