Indians vs. Indians in TVL battle

— MILLERSBURG — In each of its four losses this year, Millersburg has given up 40 or more points including last week’s 41-29 Tri-Valley League loss to Tri-Valley.

After splitting their first four games, the Indians (2-4, 2-3 TVL) have dropped two in a row.

“On the  way home, I felt as good as you could after a loss,” Millersburg coach Brad Hatter said. “Maybe if we could have gotten another stop, we could have scored again, but, I was pleased with the kids’ effort. At the end of the day, we had five turnovers against Tri-Valley and you can’t do that against a good football team.”

“We were flat against Pine Grove and they are a very good team and they beat Williams Valley,” he said.

Hatter is taking into account that his team is young and that at times in football that can play into your favor.

“One thing about having a young team is that they tend to have short memories,” he said. “In other sports, like soccer, you can lose a game and can turn around the next day and play. With football, it tends to linger a bit, but the kids come to practice on Monday focused on their next opponent.”

Juniata (2-4, 2-3 TVL) comes into Friday’s contest having lost two of its last three games and, like Millersburg, it has given up 40 or more points on several occasions this year.

“We looked at them on film and they have some kids that can run the ball well,” Hatter said. “They made some good passes in the Upper Dauphin game despite the loss. They are going to be a tough opponent for us.”
