MIDDLEBURG -- Ben B. Bachman, 92, formerly of Greenhouse Road, Middleburg, passed away at 7:50 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2008, at Manor Care, Sunbury.

He was born Dec. 17, 1915, in Middleburg, a son of the late George and Mary (Saltzman) Bachman. In June 1945, he married the former Leona M. Shrawder, who survives.

He had farmed as well as working for more than 30 years at the Sealtest-Sheffield Farms, later Eastern Milk Producers Milk Plant, Middleburg. He retired from the state Department of Transportation.

Ben was a member of the Teamsters Union and the Reliance Hose Company, Middleburg.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming He was an avid baseball fan and played for many years on teams in Middleburg.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and B. and Claudia Bachman of Mansfield, Texas, and Scott E. and Brenda Bachman of Middleburg; five grandchildren, Larayne Bachman, Shenny Natera, Benjamin Bachman, Micahel Haddon and wife Mary and Adam Bachman and wife Rachel; two stepgrandchildren, Ted Panov and Stacey Panova; five great-grandchildren; and one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Leroy and Virginia Shrawder of Lewisburg.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Woodrow, Paul and one in infancy, and four sisters, Vera Wagner, Sylvia Myers, Helen Bachman and Marie in infancy.

Visitors may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Carvel K. May officiating.

Burial will be in Hummel's Church Cemetery, Middleburg.
