LEWISBURG — Buffalo Valley Singers will once again provide two concerts to get everyone in the Christmas mood — Dec. 21 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 22 at 3 p.m. Both concerts will be held at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1050 Buffalo Road, (Route 192) Lewisburg.
The Christmas program will open with approximately 75 men and women processing down the aisles of the church singing “Emmanuel” accompanied by trumpeters Kevin Hower and Ryan Fitch in addition to the piano. Other religious songs include “Mary, Did You Know?” and Handel’s “Hallelujah, Amen.” Secular numbers include traditional songs such as “Jingle Bells,” “There’s No Place Like Home for the Holidays,” and “I’ll Be Home for Christmas.” The concert will end with a jazzy medley of favorites in “Swingin’ with Santa Claus.”
The performance will be enhanced by Fred Lawrence on percussion, Ruth Kennedy on flute, Amelia Kramer on oboe, and Christ Frantz on organ. Dante Green and Jordan Marols will sing a duet, and soloists include Megan Hauck, Erin Merrill, Amber Meekins, Greg Harvey, and David Young.
Buffalo Valley Singers invites choral singers to join for the spring 2014 concert season by attending weekly Monday rehearsals starting Jan. 6, at 7 p.m. at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Lewisburg. No auditions are necessary. There is a $10 annual membership fee. The concerts will be on March 15 and 16, and May 17 and 18, (benefit concert).
