LEWISBURG — Union County Farm Bureau will celebrate Food Check-Out Week from Feb. 16-22, as a means of recognizing that farmers care, and want to give back to the local community. Food Check-Out Week will be observed through a charitable donation of food and money to the region’s Ronald McDonald House located in Danville.
“The Ronald McDonald House is a great home away from home for parents and children waiting for a loved one having treatment at the hospital,” said LaVere Hook Farm Bureau president. It takes a lot of resources to provide this charitable service for our region. It’s a perfect way for us to recognize the bounty from our farms,” Hook added.
A contribution of food or funds to the event can be made by contacting Susan Hauck at (570) 966-3760. The donated items will be presented to the Ronald McDonald House during a Food Check-Out Day program on Feb. 18, which will include local farm families. Contact Susan Hauck before Feb. 11.
