Scott Zimmerman, principal of the Mifflinburg Intermediate School, has recently revealed the recipients of the Kiwanis sponsored ASPIRES award for December. This monthly recognition of students who have been peer role models for displaying positive attitudes, respect, kindness, responsibility and other anti-bullying behaviors, will be rewarded with a special certificate and cash award at the school’s May assembly.
Lindsey Benfer, a third grader in Mrs. Gemberling’s room, is the daughter of Mindy and Brad Benfer, of New Berlin. Her favorite time at school is recess. She enjoys playing with her younger sister and playing basketball. She is also involved in scouting. Lindsey hopes to become a nurse.
Ethel Boyer, a fourth grader in Mrs. Gramly’s room, is the daughter of Sue Boyer and Mark Coleman. She has a twin sister, Kathy, and she likes to play football at recess. Her favorite class is reading and she also likes to play with her dolls. Ethel envisions working in homecare after graduation.
Sarah Jacka, daughter of Heidi and Ken Campbell and Mike and Crystal Jacka, is a fourth grader in Mrs. Easton’s room. Her favorite class is math and she sings in the school chorus. Sarah plays soccer and collects dolls and would like to become a veterinarian.
