LEWISBURG — Educator Joe Southerton will lead an owl walk on Saturday, April 13, beginning at 7:30 p.m., at the Dale’s Ridge Trail parking lot at the Dale/Engle/Walker property in Buffalo Township. Before heading off to find owls along Buffalo Creek, Southerton will talk about the habits of those owls that are permanent resident of Central Pennsylvania, including screech owls, great horned, barn, barred and long-eared owls. The short walk is over level, but somewhat uneven surface.
The Owl Prowl will be followed at 8:30 p.m. by an astronomy observation conducted by Bucknell University physics professor Ned Ladd. Participants will have an opportunity to stargaze through Dr. Ladd’s high-powered telescope or to bring their own. This event will be held adjacent to the Dale/Engle/Walker House
The D/E/W property is located at 1471 Strawbridge Road off Route 192, 1.7 miles west of Lewisburg. The Merrill W. Linn Land and Waterways Conservancy, as part of its 10th annual Caring for Communities Earth Month Celebration, sponsors both free events.
