MIFFLINBURG — Mifflinburg’s annual Community Tree Lighting will take place Sunday, Dec. 1, downtown on Chestnut Street between Third and Fourth streets. The tree lighting ceremony will be between 7 and 8 p.m. with the actual “switching on the lights” at 7:30 p.m. Prior to that, KJ Reimensnyder-Wagner will be singing and playing music for listening and sing along. There will be cocoa, coffee and cookies available at the fire hall and children may visit with Santa after the tree lighting.
Additionally, there will be a business open house that day. Businesses will be open at least from 4 to 8 p.m. with some being open earlier in the day, also. Some businesses will be passing out samples, coupons and other treats for attendees. There will be a storefront decorating contest with both a Judge’s Award and a People’s Choice Award. Those attending will be given a voting ballot to vote for their favorite storefront decorations for the People’s Choice Award.
After a difficult year downtown due to road construction, this will be truly a merry holiday celebration. Many thanks to Keith Phelps and Country Farm & Home for donating and decorating the community tree and to the Hose Company for hosting the refreshments.
