— LEWISBURG -- Lewisburg Borough Councilman Trey Casimir told the Daily Item Thursday he will not seek re-election for his Ward 2 seat, saying it's time focus more on his family and his expanding business.
Casimir, a Democrat, has been on borough council for eight years. He said he wants his intent known so others interested in serving can get their petitions started with Union County.
Tuesday, Feb. 19, is the first day to circulate and file nominating petitions.
"It's a fantastic experience, I can't say enough about it," Casimir said. He will continue his duties with the borough planning and shade tree commissions, he said.
Those interested pursuing the council seat must be a Lewisburg borough resident for at least one year. Contact the Union County Bureau of Elections for more information.
