— MILTON — A local family will receive a Christmas tree adorned with pumpkins, butterflies, flowers and snowflakes this holiday season.

Students in the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit (CSIU) 5 Star program in Sunbury decorated a “four seasons” themed tree, which is on display at TreeFest in Bloomsburg.

TreeFest is an annual event in Bloomsburg where local Christmas tree growers donate live trees to be trimmed. Community volunteers set up and decorate the trees, which are on display at the Caldwell Consistory through the middle of December. At the conclusion of the event, the trees are donated to area families in need, as identified by local service agencies.

“We put a lot of thought and work into decorating the tree,” said Samantha Sepulveda, of Bloomsburg. “I hope the family who receives 5 Star’s tree enjoys it.”

Students from 5 Star have participated in the event for the last five years, and earn the privilege to attend based on their own positive behavior throughout the school year.

A specialized emotional support program, 5 Star incorporates positive behavior supports and real-life experiences for children and adolescents in grades six through 12.
