The exhibition, “Abstraction Today,” opens at the Downtown Art Gallery. Features an exhibition of five prominent Pennsylvania artists curated by Bridgette Mayer (through March 2). Hours: are noon-5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
A new community group, Cradle, holds a resource fair from 10 a.m.-noon at the Campus Theatre. The Cradle Resource Fair will highlight local businesses and nonprofit organizations that provide services such as pregnancy and childbirth care, breastfeeding support, and nutrition counseling. There will be a panel discussion at 10:30 a.m. featuring local pregnancy care service providers. Cradle is hosting the event along with co-sponsors, Black Fringe Photography and Dr. Mary Beth O’Hara.
Camille A. Brown and Dancers will bring modern dance to the Weis Center stage at 7:30 p.m. The event is sponsored, in part, by Susquehanna Life magazine. The performance features Brown’s standout work “New Second Line” set to a jazzy New Orleans groove, as well as two poignant solo works: “The Real Cool” from her critically acclaimed work, “Mr. Tol E. RancE” and “Evolution of a Secured Feminine.” In addition, the performance will include excerpts from the soulful “City of Rain,” a fun duet “Been There Done That” and her first work for Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater “The Groove to Nobody’s Business.” Tickets for the performance are $20 for adults, $16 for seniors ages 62 plus, $10 for youth under 18, and $10 for all college students.
