— MIFFLINBURG -- Fred would be so happy: an annual fund-raiser, "Milkshakes for Fred," collected just more than $8,000 for SUNCOM Industries, his former employer.
Milkshakes for Fred invited people around the Valley to send photos of themselves or others drinking milkshakes to Hoffman’s family via email or text or post them on Facebook, and they will donate $1 to SUNCOM or $2 if the photo subject is wearing the official “Milkshakes for Fred” T-shirt.
The grand totals: $8,006.72 raised for SUNCOM, 913 people drank milkshakes, 240 people wore T-shirts in the pictures, 385 T-shirts were sold
The fund-raiser, held Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 and hosted by his family, honored Fred Hoffman III, 33, who had cerebral palsy and used a feeding tube. Milkshakes were one food he could enjoy. Hoffman passed away in 2011.
