The Daily Item
LEWISBURG — Members of the Kiwanis Club of Lewisburg are gearing up for a busy summer of activities, but they need your help. The club will be running a hotdog stand for the Lewisburg Fourth of July activities, and an auction to be held on Aug. 25. All of the proceeds from these events will be shared among the various Kiwanis charities.
There are only nine members of the Kiwanis Club of Lewisburg. So they are calling upon former Key Club members, Circle K members, scout members, and citizens to become “Kiwanians for a Day.” Help is needed on June 27 at 1 p.m. at the Lewisburg Club, 131 Market St. in Lewisburg to help pick up items for the hotdog sale and to set up the tent and tables at Wolfe Field. The take down of the tent and tables will take place immediately after the fireworks at the park. Volunteers are needed for this day’s activities.
The following day, June 28, the tent and tables will be set up at 8 a.m. at the Bucknell President’s Grove at the foot of South Third Street for the hotdog sale for the concert. Then, again, at the end of the concert help will be needed to take down the tent and to return items to the Lewisburg Club. Once again, volunteers will be needed to help with this day’s hot dog sale.
On Aug. 25 volunteers will be needed to assist with the auction as carriers to get items from the auctioneer to the highest bidder for each item. The auction will be held at the Citizen’s Electric Co. parking lot beginning at 4 p.m. and ending at sundown.
People who are interested in helping with any or all of these activities are asked to call Dave Mensch at (570) 524-2613 for more information on becoming a “Kiwanian for a Day.”
