— LEWISBURG — Here’s some dog-gone good news: the Lewisburg Dog Park reopens next Wednesday, and the Tails to Trails 5K fun run and walk happens in about a month.
The dog park is at the St. Mary’s Park Ice Rink and will be back in business Wednesday, Aug. 21. The fenced-in park will be open to dogs and their owners from dawn to dusk.
The Tails to Trails 5K happens Saturday, Sept. 21, at 9:30 a.m., and online registration now is open at the Buffalo Valley Recreation Authority website: www.bvrec.org.
Entry fee is just $7 for those who sign up by Friday, Sept. 13. Registration at the event will be $12 and happens between 8:45 and 9:25 a.m. Multiple dog discounts are available as is parking at Brookpark Farm.
Proceeds benefit SUN P.E.T.S., a nonprofit group that provides low-cost spay and neuter programs for dogs and cats in Snyder, Union and Northumberland counties, and the Buffalo Valley Recreation Authority. Visit the recreation authority’s website for more information.
