NEW BERLIN — Tina Hans, of Lewisburg, was awarded the Cynthia Schloss Transition Award at the Union-Snyder County Transition Conference held at Bloomsburg University on March 20. This award is presented in memory of Dr. Cynthia Schloss, who was a professor at Bloomsburg Universities Exceptionalities Department and whose work focused on secondary transition; the process of preparing for the transition from school to post-school outcomes. This award is presented to a student who attends school in the Snyder and Union County school districts and who has demonstrated the ability to overcome obstacles and barriers to develop and work towards post-school goals.
Recognized before 250 of her peers from the Snyder and Union County areas, Tina was presented with an award and a citation from Representative Fred Keller for her determination, self-advocacy, work ethic and preparation for post-school success. Tina, who attends the computer networking & technology program at SUN Area Technical Institute and is a Lewisburg High School senior, was nominated by Wendy Chalmers and Dirk Metzger, teachers at SUN Tech.
In addition to her success at SUN Tech, she is also a varsity member of the Lewisburg Area High School bowling team. Tina was involved in the prom committee during her junior year and serves as a student representative on the occupational advisory committee for the Resource Department at SUN Tech. Tina is also currently dual enrolled at Penn College of Technology, earning college credit while attending SUN Tech. She plans to enroll at Penn College of Technology in the fall to pursue a degree in information technology.
Tina is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Hans, of Lewisburg.
