MIFFLINBURG -- The Mifflinburg Area Middle School announces its selections for the P.R.I.D.E. Award for the Student of the Month for March. Students are selected by their teachers on the criteria of Positive attitude, Respect for others and Regular attendance, Involved in at least one extra-curricular activity, Demonstrate honesty and integrity, and have Enthusiasm for learning. At the awards assembly at the end of the school year each recipient will receive a certificate, cash prize, and Lions Club memento form the Millmont West Union Area Lions Club, the sponsor of the Student of the Month Award.
Seth Kline, sixth grade, is the son of Bill and Heidi Kline, of Mifflinburg. His favorite subject in school is math, and he is a member of the chorus, and TSA. He also plays basketball and soccer. He is a member of the Good News Club, and the youth group at his church. Seth enjoys building things and spending time with friends. In the future he would like to be an architect.
Alexa Hackenburg, seventh grade, is the daughter of Jeff and Vicki Hackenburg, of Mifflinburg. Social studies is her favorite subject in school where she is a member of the junior high soccer team and FCCLA. She plays with the Mifflinburg Soccer Club, indoor soccer, and Storm North Central PA Soccer teams. She enjoys running and spending time with friends. In the future, Alexa would like to be a teacher.
Colette Southerton, eighth grade, is the daughter of James and Maria Southerton, of Lewisburg. Communications and science are her favorite subjects in school, where she is a member of the National Junior Honor Society, the Builders’ Club, and the cross country team. She takes Jazz dance lessons at Enterline’s Dance Studio, and is a member of Saint George Church in Mifflinburg. Colette enjoys dance, running, basketball, ping-pong, kayaking, and spending times with friends and family. In the future, she would like to be a nurse, or other profession in the medical field.
