MIFFLINBURG -- The Mifflinburg Area Middle School announces its selections for the P.R.I.D.E. Award for the Student of the Month for December. Students are selected by their teachers on the criteria of Positive attitude, Respect for others and Regular attendance, Involved in at least one extra-curricular activity, Demonstrate honesty and integrity, and have Enthusiasm for learning. At the awards assembly at the end of the school year, each recipient will receive a certificate, cash prize, and Lions Club memento from the Millmont-West Union Area Lions Club, the sponsor of the Student of the Month Award.
Matthew Reber, sixth grade, is the son of Jeff and Karen Reber, of Mifflinburg. Science is his favorite subject in school and he is a member of the Art Club and the Builders Club. Baseball and basketball are his favorite sports. Matthew enjoys playing the guitar and collecting baseball cards. In the future, he would like to be an engineer or web designer.
Anna Harter, seventh grade, is the daughter of Jennifer and Andrew Harter, of Mifflinburg. Her favorite subjects in school are science and communication, and she is a member of the Art Club and chorus. She is also active in school sports — field hockey, cross country, and basketball. She is a member of the youth group at her church and is a Girl Scout. She also in involved in dance. In her spare time, Anna enjoys spending time with family and friends. In the future, she would like to be an architect.
Tom Lichtel, eighth grade, is the son of Kym and Dan Lichtel, of Mifflinburg. His favorite subject in school is physical education. He is a member of the school chorus, treasurer of the band, vice president of TSA, and president of National Junior Honor Society. He runs cross country, and is goalkeeper of the soccer team. He also plays AYSO soccer, indoor soccer, and NCP soccer. He enjoys playing sports with his friends. In the future, Tom would like to be a pediatrician.
