Access to eBooks now easier

The Daily Item

— LEWISBURG — Readers can now get instant access to free eBooks with one click onto any device — including tablets, eReaders, smartphones, and laptops — using OverDrive Read™ part of The Next Generation Experience.

OverDrive Read™ is a new browser-based technology that requires no software or downloading and allows readers to go from one device to another without ever losing their place. Available titles can be downloaded to a device or users can choose to begin reading right away in the web browser.

Along with OverDrive Read™ The Next Generation Experience also features One-Step Checkout™, new responsive design compatible with both mobile and desktop devices, and new discovery tools providing better search options.

To become familiar with the many new features of The Next Generation Experience, Sarah Biallas, UCLS AmeriCorps member, will be hosting training sessions throughout April at all three libraries. For dates and times, visit and click on ‘Calendar’ along the left sidebar.

To access the library’s digital collection, go to and log in by selecting your home library and entering your Union County Library System library card number.

For more information or if you have trouble logging in, call your local UCLS Library at 523-1172 for The Public Library for Union County; 966-0831 for Herr Memorial Library; and 922-4773 for West End Library.
