LEWISBURG — Union County’s Bicentennial is now underway with the yearlong celebration of history having officially kicked off on March 22. From now through November there will be presentations, festivals, tours, walks and bike rides, performances and many other fun and educational Bicentennial themed activities. Be sure to pick up a copy of “Celebrating our Bicentennial: Official 2013 Program” a month-by-month events guide so you can explore Union County’s communities, historic sites, mountains, valleys and streams as you learn the stories of our past. The publication’s cover features authentic coverlet patterns of Frederick Gutelius, of Mifflinburg.
The guide will arrive as in insert in The Daily Item on Monday, April 1 and in the Union County Times on Saturday, April 5. It was distributed in the Union County Journal and The Milton Standard on March 23.
Copies are also available at the Union County Government Center on 15th Street in Lewisburg, Susquehanna River Valley Visitors Bureau on Hafer Road, at the Union County Historical Society Office in the courthouse, the Mifflinburg County Government Building on Chestnut Street, and in PDF format at UnionCounty200.com.
