Lewisburg High athletes get kudos from school board

LEWISBURG -- The school board recognized the 2012-13 men's varsity basketball team of Lewisburg Area High School at Thursday night's meeting.

Superintendent Mark DiRocco and Board Vice President Edward Zych presented certificates and thanked all athletes and coaches for their efforts this year.

Wrestlers Freshman Brian Friery and Senior Brandon Smith were recognized for making it to state championships this year, as was Coach Jim Snyder.

Head Basketball Coach John Vaji and Assistant Coach Todd Thompson were honored along with basketball team members who, Vaji noted, gave District 2 champion Holy Cross a run for it before losing to them 60-55 in the PIAA Class AA first-round boys basketball state tournament.

"I could not be more proud of these guys," Vaji said.

Team members appearing at the meeting were: Logan Cho, Ben Frankel, Tanner Host, Jesse Flannery, Nathan Fox, Erich Kline, Andrew Newcomb, Matt Fedorjaka , Nicola Costagliola, Samuel Allen, Daniel Cole, Alexander Liscum and Lucas Winter.
