The Daily Item
LEWISBURG — Starting May 13, put on your thinking cap and get out your magnifying glass for the Union County Bicentennial photo contest. Unlike the typical photo contest where participants are usually asked to take and submit photographs, this one is slightly different in that the photos will be provided. One photo, taken recently from within the county, will be released on Monday each week for the next 15 weeks running through the end of August. Contestants can find the photos, including a hint, on the Bicentennial website at UnionCounty200.com/Galleries/Photo-Contest and on the Bicentennial’s Facebook page.
From there the detective work begins as you must comb the county in search of the item and location in the photo. All sleuths will have one week to solve the photo mystery and to submit the answer by email to UnionCountyPhotoContest@gmail.com including a brief description of what is featured in the photograph and where it is located, including an address or adjacent road name. Submissions must be received prior to the following Monday. Each week a winner will be drawn from all correct entries to receive a Bicentennial prize pack. At the end of the 15 weeks, all correct entries will be entered into a random drawing for an additional prize.
The photo contest has been made possible through the efforts of the Mifflinburg Heritage and Revitalization Association (MHRA) and their volunteer photographer Cindy Dixon McEvoy, of Mifflinburg.
