LAURELTON — All aboard to the West End Library for a local history program on Feb. 10 at 6:30 p.m. about the rail connections that supported the lumbering industry in Swengel, Weikert, Millmont, Glen Iron, Pardee and Laurel. More than 500 short line railroads existed in the United States at the industry’s height, and Pennsylvania had more than any other state.
Presenter Michael Bezilla touches upon his research on the history of the Lewisburg, Centre and Spruce Creek railroads. Bezilla works at Penn State University and has written several books on railroading in central Pennsylvania. To reserve a seat for this program, call the library at (570) 922-4773 or visit the circulation desk at 45 Ball Park Road in Laurelton.
