— Young Americans for April have been announced by the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce. They include:

Parents:  Douglas Grove Sr. and Susan Grove

Hometown: Rebuck

My talents or hobbies: Application programming.

Among the leadership positions I have held: Church youth group treasurer, Boy Scout quartermaster.

Among my special achievements and awards: HOBY representative; National Honor Society; poem published; Who’s Who 2013 Graduation year.

How I have given back to the community: Repaired hiking paths, collected trash, helped repaint  church grove, placed flags on veterans’ graves, packed blankets to send overseas to the needy.

My plans upon graduation: Future plans are to obtain a bachelor’s degree in computer science, find a job in the area and then one day get involved in politics.

Why I was selected as a Young American? Due to my hard work and determination. I excel in my studies and in my community. I believe that my ethics represent those of a true American.

What you should know about me? I would like to let people know that I am a free thinker. I adhere to no biased opinions in order to from my own decisions. I am a true individual that one day wishes to help move this country forward onto prosperous days once again.
