West Des Moines Police Officer Chris Morgan has tattoos on both of his arms. His tattoos will be grandfathered in, but if he gets amy more they will have to be in a place his police uniform can cover up. Des Moines police union and police administration are at odds over a new tattoo policy. Any tattoos, branding, intentional scarring of the face, head, neck, hands, exposed arms and exposed legs are prohibited. Those who already have tattoos on exposed skin are not affected. However, they must provide photographs of the tattoos that are being grandfathered in and no new ones will be allowed unless they can be covered up by the uniform.
