SELINSGROVE — Since 1984, communities across the country have gathered friends and neighbors with National Night Out Events as a way to encourage crime prevention. The public is invited to join the Snyder County District Attorney’s office and participate in the Inaugural Night Out Snyder County from 5 p.m. to dark Aug. 27 in East Snyder Park, University Avenue, Selinsgrove.
This free event will feature opportunities for all community members to learn more about the services offered through local and state law enforcement agencies, area fire departments and ambulance services, as well as the 911 Center. In addition, local civic, legislative, youth development, healthcare and education groups and community organizations are hosting displays, activities and games for children of all ages. The local business community is providing hotdogs, chips and drinks while supplies last.
To date, the Selinsgrove, Shamokin Dam, Middleburg and State Police Department, Penn Township, Sunbury Broadcasting, Burns Tae Kwon Do, Snyder County Coalition for Kids, Greater Susquehanna United Way, Snyder County’s Office of Emergency Services, Penn State Extension, Weis, ButterKrust, PepsiCo, Middleswarth, Kohl’s, Selinsgrove Rotary and many others have committed to help the Snyder County District Attorney’s Office with this event. If you or your organization is also interesting in participating, contact Mary Mahoney-Ferster, at the Penn State Extension, (570) 966-8194 or email her at email@example.com.
