Midd-West athletes fare well at district track meet

— This past Saturday 16 members of the Boys and Girls Track and Field teams competed in the District 4 Track and Field Championships at Susquehanna University. 

For the girls team, 3 school records were broken with several district medals coming back to Midd-West High School!  Janelle Arbogast finished 5th in the 300 hurdles in a new school record time of 49.33 seconds.  The 4x8 team of Janelle Arbogast, Hannah Stauffer, Janelle Peachy and Makenzi Kauffman finished 7th in a new school record time of 10 minutes 19.78 seconds.  The 4x4 team of Janelle Arbogast, Janelle Peachy, Makenzi Kauffman and Jessica Jones finished 6th in a new school record time of 4 minutes 20.14 seconds.  Chloe Wagner finished 10th in the Javelin, Hannah Stauffer finished 14th in the 1600, Makenzi Kauffman finished 10th in the 400 and Jessica Jones finished 10 in the 300 hurdles. 

 For the boys team, 3 school records were broken and again several district medals made it back to Midd-West High School.  Jacob Shaffer finished 3rd in the discus with a new school record throw of 142 feet.  Tyler Herbster improved his school record time in the 1600 finishing 12th in 4 minutes 54.16 seconds.  And Devaughn Johns finished 5th in the 400 with a new school record time of 52.55 seconds.  Dayton Kratzer finished 3rd in the Javelin.  The 4x8 team of Landry Harman, Tyler Herbster, Tyler Arbogast and Devaughn Johns finished in 4th.  Cody Mattern finished 7th in the Shot Put.  Jake Keister finished 11th in the triple jump, 100 and 200.  Austin Shellhammer finished 9th in the 400.  In the 800 Tyler Arbogast finished 15th, Devaughn Johns finished 18th and Landry Harman finished 19th

Congratulations to all of the athletes that competed!  All track team members need to remember to turn in the uniforms to Coach Gemberling as soon as possible!
