Murder-mystery wraps up successful show at winery

PENNS CREEK — The final reunion of Shutterdown High was held at the Shade Mountain Winery on June 20-21. The dinner theatre "Murder at the Grand Reunion" was hosted by the Generoo Organization and provided an evening of mayhem and murder.

All guests (classmates) were given a new identity for an evening of fun. As the actors mingled with their classmates before the play, subtle hints and possible motives were interspersed with conversation. The actors dined with classmates as well. To kick-off the evening, classmates (the audience members) played band instruments, sang the Shutterdown High alma mater, and participated in a drama club breathing and bowing exercise. The Shutterdown High Slugs performed their school cheer and were encouraged to "Get Their Slug On." Each night the final "King and Queen of Shutterdown High," were crowned. Then guidance counselor Lottie Class was honored. Over the years she directed students into the careers of her choice rather than their hearts’ desire. So as a result many of the students did not hold Lottie Class in high esteem. After the untimely demise (murder) of Lottie, many of the actors were prime suspects. The audience had to put their "Whodunit" skills to the test as the evening unfolded. They were encouraged to use their sleuthing skills and identify the murderer. Each night a different actor was implicated.

The Generoo Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre is offered through the support of the Woodcock Foundation for the Appreciation of the Arts, Inc., and Shade Mountain Winery.

Generoo is looking for actors, vocalists, musicians, directors, stage crew, and more for future productions. Anyone interested in joining the Generoo Organization, can contact or (570) 837-0095.
