MIDD-WEST FEST/Middleburg

Midd-West Fest week features a community bonfire at 8 p.m. at the Sports Booster Stadium (east side).

YARD-RUMMAGE & SOUP SALE/Middleburg

A fall indoor-outdoor yard rummage and soup sale will be held 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 100 S. Main St. Quarts or bowls of three kinds of soup will be available at the food stand. Call Pam Shaffer at (570) 837-0233, to reserve a single or double space.

Saturday, Oct. 5, in Region

STREET FAIR/Beaver Springs

Oktoberfest Street Fair begins at 9 a.m. Features a petting zoo, pony rides, food, crafts, barbecue chicken, fire truck rides, apple butter, chicken corn soup. Live entertainment by Sadie Green Sales with show times at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

POTPIE/Beavertown

“Drive-through” ham and beef potpie quarts sold at 4 p.m., for take-out only, in the truck room of Rescue Hose Company 20, 222 S. Sassafras St. Benefits Rescue Hose Company 20.

EVENING WITH WINE & ART/Middleburg

Snyder County Libraries Inc will hold its eighth annual Evening with Wine and Art from 5:30-8 p.m. at the Shade Mountain Winery, Route 104 north of Middleburg. Evening will feature fine works by both artists – Jeffrey Martin, a well-renowned portraitist and Zach Brosious, a passionate woodworker. Hors d’oeurves and wines will be available. Music will be provided by Ben Shemory. There will be a 50-50 raffle and a silent auction to include a Mediterranean dinner for 6, hand dyed scarves, handmade pottery, framed prints, an authentic Italian dinner for 4, jewelry, autographed Pro Bowl shirt from Nick Mangold of the New York Jets, a day on the bay, jewelry, filled baskets, etc. Tickets are $25 per person and can be purchased online at http://wineandart.brownpapertickets.com. Tickets are also available at all four libraries and a limited amount will be available at the door that evening.

CHICKEN BARBECUE/Middleburg

A chicken barbecue with baked beans and macaroni salad, held 10 a.m. until sold out on the square and at the Midd-West Fest at Midd-West High School. Proceeds benefit Midd-West Bowling.

DANCE/Middleburg

A Swingmasters dance held 6 to 9 p.m. at the Middleburg VFW.

5K/Middleburg

The Middlecreek Area Community Center’s annual 5K will be held at the Sports Booster Stadium (behind the high school in Middleburg). The 5K is an out and back course and is open to runners and walkers of all ages. The race will begin at 9 a.m. Registration will be open from 8-8:45 AM. Cost to register prior to Sept. 27 is $20. Race day registration will be $25. Youth are invited to participate in the 1/2 mile fun run to begin after the start of the 5K. Immediately following the 5K, there will be a variety of family events and activities as part of the annual Midd-West Fest and Homecoming. Registration forms for the 5K can be downloaded from the website at www.maccrec.org. More information is available by calling (570) 658-2276.

MIDD-WEST FEST/Middleburg

Midd-West Fest week features a street fair from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Middleburg High School, a 5K walk/run beginning at 9 a.m. at the Sports Booster Stadium, fire truck rides, 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. (elementary bus loop); classic car show, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in front of high school; homecoming game, Midd-West Boys soccer vs. Williamsport Millionaires at the Sports Booster Stadium. JV game at 5 p.m., varsity game at 6:30 p.m., half-time activities at 7:15 p.m.

Sunday, Oct. 6, In Region

FAMILY FUN NIGHT/Beaver Springs

All are welcome to attend Family Fun Night from 5-7 p.m. at the Middlecreek Area Community Center. Event features kickball, basketball, racquet ball, crafts, and free refreshments, along with the opportunity for free play. It is sponsored by the Orthodox Christian Chapel of the Holy Spirit in Beavertown. Children should be accompanied by an adult. FAMILY FUN FEST/Mount Pleasant Mills

A fall family fun fest begins at 5 p.m. at Aline United Methodist Church. Features hayrides, pumpkin painting and other crafts, apple cider, campfire for hot dogs and s’mores. Free to the public.
