SELINSGROVE — A nonperishable food collection was taken at the September breakfast meeting of the Snyder County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees to meet the goal of conducting a special project or activity to alleviate hunger in our area. Vivian Beaver, director, accepted the donations for the Selinsgrove Food Bank which is held at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 400 N. Market St., Selinsgrove. Beaver told the group about the origin of the food bank and its present mission. She explained where the food comes from that the food bank distributes and the process for people to receive the food.
The Food Bank is open the last Friday of every month except for November and December when it is open the Friday before the holiday. Volunteers bag items between 11 a.m. and noon.
