— MIDDLEBURG — The search is on for a few strong men and women interested in testing their mettle in the first Strongman Competition in Middleburg.

The outdoor event is planned for Saturday June 8 at Grace Covenant Church and all proceeds will benefit the church’s youth group.

“It’s a lot of fun and the trophies are pretty cool,” said co-organizer Bill Fegley. “But another goal is to get people active.”

The event includes six tests of strength; truck pull, log press, Atlas stones, tire flip-keg carry relay, Conan’s wheel and farmer’s walk.

The competition is open to men, women and co-ed teams 18 years of age and older. Participants will compete based on weight.

A free kids competition will also be held, with children coupled in age groups of 5 to 7; 8 to 10 and 11 to 12.

The church youth group will provide food for sale.

Registration costs $35 per individual and $45 per team and will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at Grace Covenant Community Church, 99 Cafe Lane, Middleburg. All competitors will weigh in at that time.
