The Daily Item
— It’s Wednesday, February 27, and it looks like a wet “hump” day across the Valley.
Bored? Want something to do? Just take a cue from the local Middleburg Girl Scout troop … which spent some time Monday night wielding googly eyes, felt, stones, glue sticks and other crafty stuff in preparation for Saturday’s mall event.
The Girl Scout mall show at the Susquehanna Valley Mall runs all day Saturday and is a time when troops from all over the Valley can show off their skills to the general public, network with other Girl Scouts and delve into the high stakes world of “swapping.”
Swaps are small tokens, usually homemade crafts, that the girls make to trade with girls from other regions. By the end of the show, each girl has the opportunity to collect quite a variety of items and forge new friendships in the process.
If you have some time Saturday, take some time to check out the experience and feel free to indulge in a box or two of thin mints, samoas or other Girl Scout cookies.
You’ll be glad you did.
