— Every Wednesday from now through Aug. 14 (excluding Fourth of July week), the West Snyder Elementary School will host a summer reading program for students entering third grade through those who have just completed fifth grade.
The sessions will run from 9 a.m. to noon with the objective of developing a life-long reading habit and reduce the amount of reading loss over the summer months.
Students will be listening to 'read alouds' (texts read by a teacher), reading independently, having some free exercise time outdoors and also writing in response to reading as well as creative writing.
The school is not offering transportation or lunch for these sessions. Parents need to pick up their children as close to noon as possible.
