Special recycling collection in Snyder County

— A four-day special recycling collection event in Snyder County begins Friday.

The first collection by the Snyder County Solid Waste Management Authority will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Beavertown Carnival Grounds in Beavertown.

The second collection will be held Friday, May 3 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, May 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Monroe Township Municipal Shed on Park Road.

The authority will be collecting computers, electronics, clothing, textiles, major appliances, assorted metals, hardcover books, paperback books and magazines for reuse and recycling. 

The event is free and open to all Snyder County residents. Donations will be accepted to help cover the costs.

Last year, the authority collected more than nine tons of scrap metal, 49 tons of electronics and computers, three tons of clothing, 220 appliances and 700 televisions.
