MIFFLINBURG -- The Mifflinburg Area Middle School announces its selections for the P.R.I.D.E. Award for the Student of the Month for May. Students are selected by their teachers on the criteria of Positive attitude, Respect for others and Regular attendance, Involved in at least one extra-curricular activity, Demonstrate honesty and integrity, and have Enthusiasm for learning. At the awards assembly at the end of the school year, each recipient will receive a certificate, cash prize, and Lions Club memento from the Millmont West Union Area Lions Club, the sponsor of the Student of the Month Award.
Riley Griffith, sixth grade, is the daughter of J. Scott and Kelly Griffith, of Mifflinburg. Her favorite subject in school is math, and she likes to sing in the school chorus. She is a member of club soccer and indoor soccer, and on the traveling basketball team. She also enjoys swimming, and running. In the future Riley would like to be a teacher.
Tyler Sauers, seventh grade, is the son Tina and Jeff Sauers, of Mifflinburg. Music is his favorite subject in school, where he is a member of the band, chorus, and is involved with school musicals and plays. He is a Boy Scout and is active in his church youth group. In his spare time Tyler enjoys reading. In the future he would like to be a physician assistant.
Sayre Cohen, eighth grade, is the daughter of Jessica and Ron Cohen, of Mifflinburg. Social studies is her favorite class in school, where she is a member of the band, and the National Junior Honor Society. She participates in the Envirothon, cross country, and Susquehanna Valley Band. She is a member of the Girl Scouts, and plays the piano. Sayre enjoys spending time with her Corgi, her family, and her friends. She likes eating exotic foods, reading, writing, drawing, traveling, and playing ultimate Frisbee. In the future she would like to be a video game designer, developer, or graphic artist, preferably for Nintendo.
