Hearing moves for contractor charged with duping clients of thousands

— MIFFLINBURG — The preliminary hearing has been rescheduled for a Union County contractor charged with spending $241,000 for personal debt and expenses instead of investing it in a West Buffalo Township storage facility partnership.

Ted Cresswell, 57, of Mifflinburg, now will have his preliminary hearing April 11 before Magisterial District Judge Jeffrey Mensch.

Cresswell is charged with deceptive business practices, theft by deception and theft by unlawful taking, all felonies. the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s office filed the charges in late February.

The attorney general’s office stepped in last June after complaints from several investors that they had received no money from Cresswell and were unsuccessful in getting their money back from him. Ten investors are cited in the case.
