— MIFFLINBURG — Those with an eye on the Laurelton Elementary school property, here’s your chance: The school board is seeking sealed bids for the building and grounds.
There is no minimum bid for the property, and the bids will be opened and read publicly Wednesday, May 1 at 2 p.m. in the office of Business Manager Thomas Caruso.
Bids then will be brought to the school board’s May 7 meeting.
Director Neil Shoreman, who heads the school district’s property committee, said the move is to get the property off of the school district’s books.
The school board voted to close Laurelton Elementary School in June 2011 after several months of meetings and discussions between parents and administrators. The nearly 60-year-old building housed about 55 students in kindergarten through third grade.
Last year, the school district sold its other two outlying elementary school properties at Buffalo Crossroads and New Berlin. Those schools closed at the end of 2011-12 school year. For more information a about submitting bids, contact the Mifflinburg Area School District at (570) 966-8200.
