— LEWISBURG -- Pick out something classy: The Campus Theatre rolls out a red carpet of its own Saturday for its first Hollywood Ball celebrating this year's Academy Awards season.
"We take pride in the fact that we have already shown, and plan to show, so many of the movies that are up for major awards this year," said Jessica Paquin, director of outreach and fundraising at the Campus Theatre. “We are glad we came up with a big way to celebrate the Oscars with our community.”
And Lewisburg has an Oscar celeb of its own to watch: Bucknell University graduate Bill Westenhofer was nominated for his special effects work on the movie, “Life of Pi.”
Think hard about "who you're wearing," there will be a red carpet to welcome attendees, as well as movie clips and a dance floor.
“We want it to be a spectacle of sight and sound, themed around all things Hollywood," Paquin said. "We are encouraging everyone to walk the red carpet in style dressed to the nines or even as a favorite actor or movie character."
On Sunday, the Oscars will broadcast on the big screen at 7:30 p.m.
The Hollywood Ball is a fundraiser to continue free events, like the Oscars broadcast, for our community, Paquin said.
Tickets for the Hollywood Ball are $25 for members of the Campus Theatre and $35 for non-members. Tickets are limited and available now at the theatre.
All proceeds benefit the Campus Theatre, which is a 501(c)3 non-profit historic movie theatre and one of the few remaining single screen art deco movie houses in the country.
