— NEW BERLIN — The original Union County seat will host the first of many musical events held during the celebration of Union County’s Bicentennial in 2013.

At 3 p.m., a special concert, entitled “Return Engagement,” featuring the Albright College Mane Men, Albright Angels, and together comprising the combined men’s and women’s a capella choir, will perform at the Emmanuel United Church of Christ at 326 Market St., New Berlin.

Both one hour before and one hour after the concert, the New Berlin Heritage Museum at 400 Market St., or on the second floor of the original courthouse across the street, will feature a very special Bicentennial exhibit. The exhibit will focus on New Berlin’s college days with Union Seminary and Central Pennsylvania College, the forerunners of current day Albright College in Reading. The New Berlin Heritage Association is pulling together this exhibit effort that combines photographs and artifacts from the museum’s permanent collection. The museum is handicapped accessible by a chairlift to the second floor. Both the concert and exhibit are free and open to the public.

The special exhibit on the Union Seminary and Central Pennsylvania College will be again on view to the public on New Berlin Day, Aug. 24th and on Sept. 8 in conjunction with a program with author, Jeannette Lasansky, of New Berlin and the Buffalo Valley, the fourth and final book in the Union County Historical Society’s new book series for the Bicentennial celebration.
