Mifflinburg Intermediate School ASPIRE recipients for May/June

— Scott Zimmerman, principal of Mifflinburg Intermediate School has announced the final ASPIRE recipients for the 2012-2013 school year. This award is sponsored by the Mifflinburg Kiwanis Club and recognizes students in third, fourth and fifth grades that have displayed such characteristics as kindness, responsibility, respect, a positive attitude and a willingness to include everyone.

Each of the monthly award winners will receive a certificate and cash award from the Kiwanis Club at the schools’ end-of-the-year assembly.

In third grade, Jacob Bingaman and Alex Feese are the honorees. Jacob is the son of Jennifer and Keith Bingaman. His favorite class is gym. Jacob enjoys playing basketball and football for the Steelers and hopes to someday be a private investigator. Also in third grade is Alex Feese, son of Ken Feese. Alex is in Mr. Hummel’s homeroom. His favorite class is music and he is a member of the Boy Scouts. Alex hopes to someday become a video game designer.

Cami Finerghty, daughter of Richelle and Mike Finerghty, is a fourth grade recipient. Her favorite class is music. Cami has been in the chorus and participated in the school musical. She is also on the swim team, and plays soccer and basketball. She hopes to become a marine biologist.

Hailey Kenamond is also a fourth grade award winner. She is the daughter of Dan and Heather Kenamond. Her favorite class is art and she is active in soccer and swimming. Hailey would like to become a teacher.

In fifth grade, Amanda Reid, daughter of Heather Reid, was chosen to represent her class. Her favorite subjects are art and music. She is on the swim team, is active in her church youth group, plays flute in the band, is a cheerleader, and plays basketball and soccer. She likes to sew with her grandmother. Amanda would like to be a teacher or interior designer.

Nate Carr, son of Heidi and Tim Carr, is also in fifth grade. His favorite class is gym. Nate plays football for the Steelers and likes to ride dirt bike. He was in the chorus and school musical. He hopes to someday become a college and pro football player.

Kiwanis is an “organization of volunteers, dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time”. They sponsor many projects throughout the year that help children locally as well as around the world.
