Milton to host meetings for 'Our Town' project

MILTON - Lisa Mazzarella, producer and host of WVIA television program “Our Town” met with Milton community leaders on Jan. 7 to outline preparations for the upcoming production, which will air  March 26.

The documentary project follows a process beginning with a series of several town meetings to inform members of  the community about the project encouraging them to participate. Following the organizational meeting of key community leaders and organizations, open forum meetings will be held  for any interested community member to also participate. Volunteer “videographers” will be recruited to actually help film portions of the documentary featuring interesting events, people and places of historic Milton.

The first community session will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Milton Borough Building on Filbert Street.  The event is open  to anyone in the community who wishes to be part of this project--either as a volunteer videographer/storyteller or both.

The second session will take place at 6PM Jan. 24, also at the Borough Building.  This is a crucial session, because this meeting will determine the content of the documentary.   Ideas will be displayed on a white board and small groups will be assigned to cover their respective topics of interest. The white board session will be team-facilitated by Lisa Mazzarella.

After topics have been discussed and assigned, those interested in the production of Our Town Milton will have until Feb. 14 to submit their video packages.

On Feb. 16th, WVIA will be in Milton all day conducting interviews of the volunteer videographers/storytellers at a location yet to be finalized.

On March 26, those involved in the making of Our Town Milton will celebrate the borough in a live two-hour television premiere at the WVIA Public Media Studios.
