Heritage Aviation named Small Business of the Year

— SELINSGROVE — The Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce presented Heritage Aviation the top award of 2013 Small Business of the Year. The announcement was made at the chamber’s recent annual ceremony.

Of the more than 800 businesses within the chamber, statistics show 75 are small businesses. The Small Business of the Year Award is given to the company within the chamber which has best exemplified professional growth, excellence and commitment in the Susquehanna Valley.

“It is a great honor to accept this award on behalf of the entire team at Heritage Aviation,” said General Manager Jon Trainor in his acceptance speech. “Through the hard work and dedication of the team at Heritage Aviation, the Penn Valley Airport has become an economic asset and community landmark to the Susquehanna River Valley. We relish the opportunity to contribute to the growth and commerce of this area and appreciate this recognition.”

Earlier in 2013, Heritage Aviation was awarded the Dan Baylor Award from the Susquehanna River Valley Visitors Bureau for its entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to tourism promotion. The Flight School at Heritage Aviation was also recognized as one of the top schools in the nation by the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), general aviation’s largest, most influential association.

These frequent accolades captured the attention of local Congressman Tom Marino. Congressman Marino recently paid a visit to Heritage Aviation to meet the team behind the Penn Valley Airport, tour the facilities and encourage the continued success of the operation.

Located at the Penn Valley Airport, near Selinsgrove, Heritage Aviation offers world class service from a small community location. By operating with a customer-centric mindset, Heritage Aviation’s goal is to provide an experience unmatched by any other airport. Each year the airport services more than 50,000 customers, including several local businesses which would be unable to sustain their operations without assistance from the airport. The top-ranked flight school attracts students from as far away as New York City, Annapolis, Maryland and Washington, DC.

Heritage Aviation offers aircraft maintenance, flight instruction, fuel, hangar rentals and written examinations. Additional airport services include a pilot lounge, passenger lounge, airplane paint and restoration and an Avis rental car service.
